From Nick Carr, Founder
I started Carr Technical Solutions after years of experience on both sides of the IT world. For several years, I led the technology and AV efforts for a large church — overseeing everything from a full livestream overhaul to building-wide security cameras, ongoing AV equipment maintenance, and the network and infrastructure that kept everything running behind the scenes. That experience taught me how churches really operate: the budget conversations, the volunteer dependencies, and the pressure of needing things to simply work every single week.
While I was there, I also saw something that stuck with me. I watched vendors and IT companies approach our church — and others like it — with solutions that were overly complex, overpriced, or simply more than what was actually needed. Decision-makers who weren't deeply technical were left trusting salespeople who didn't always have their best interests in mind.
From there, I moved into corporate IT and software, where I learned the standards and best practices that larger organizations rely on every day — and saw firsthand how rarely that same level of care made it down to smaller, mission-driven organizations.
That combination — real church operations experience, corporate-grade best practices, and a firsthand look at how often organizations like yours get taken advantage of — is why I started Carr Technical Solutions.
